Therapy in English

My experience

I have been offering psychological support and therapy in English for over a decade. Part of that experience was as a Clinical Psychologist in the English health care system (NHS) in England.

How to get into therapy

Step 1) Give me a call and find out whether I can take on any new patients at the moment. If you can't reach me directly, leave me a message on my mailbox in English and I call you back as soon as possible.

Step 2) Come to a first session ("Sprechstunde") so I can assess whether you have a psychological disorder that can be treated with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). In this first session I will also give you some information about the options for treatment and whether I would recommend therapy with me or somewhere else. 

Step 3) If we decide to work together, we have about five sessions before we have to send a "Therapieantrag" (a signed document asking the health care insurance to pay for treatment). In those sessions I will try to get a good picture of the factors that might have contributed to the development of your psychological problems as well as factors that keep it going. For this we do a biografical and current analysis of your life looking at thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical aspects.

Step 4) If the insurance agrees to pay for therapy we can start straight away. Sessions take place once a week for about 50 minutes. We normally meet on the same day of the week and at the same time. The time slots will always be reserved for you. There are no drop-in sessions. The clinic is open Monday-Thursday between 8am and 2pm.
